City tow truck list slashed to one
Arnold's Towing wins rotation monopoly

Until today, Key West had six towing companies that police called in a rotation to wrecks or other situations in which their services were required.

Now it has one.

Arnold's Towing is the only company eligible under the city's ordinance -- having the heaviest-duty tow truck there is, a Class D, sets Ricky Arnold apart. He filed a lawsuit last month askin...

There must be more to this

There must be more to this story. Why did every commissioner (expect the mayor) vote against changing the law to allow others to compete? It seems obvious to me that if you have wording that does not support what you want to do, you change the wording. Payoffs? Stupidity?? Lazy? what could possible drive this decision?

Not here they won't

I have to tow people a few times a year, I will never call Arnold's. A forced monopoly. Strong arming the city into it, and they were the ones that fought hardest against charge caps etc. I strongly suggest local business's call one of the other tow company's - who will place their signs FREE of charge, not like Arnold's, and leave them ONLY the city to tow for. I am embarressed these people are so greedy and self serving. Business is business, but this is cut throat and we need to support OTHER local business's as well. Don't call Arnold's, call other's so they can buy one of those big truck" things too.

The Predatory Towing company of Key West- Arnolds Towing

Why do you think the city had all the problems with the private towing ordinance? Because of predatory towing. The problem with people being towed out of the Post Office. Predatory towing! Who is the towing company doing all this predatory towing? It's Arnold's towing. These people are crooks. Do a internet search for them and you see how well they treat their customers, locals as well as tourist. They are giving the city a bad name. After having to deal with these people who is going to come back to Key West. As a local I have a choice who to call. A tourist is not going to know any better, all he is going to do is leave with a bad taste for the whole town. After personally dealing with Arnold's, I don't blame them. I also happen to know a few things about Arnold's integrity. While under the old police rotation system, they formed a "separate" company using the same drivers, dispatch, trucks and yard so they could have 2 police rotations instead of just one. How is that for fair and upstanding. Now the City is just going to hand them a further license to steal? All the towing companies have access to the bigger trucks. Just have the City Attorney reflect this in a new ordinance. Allowing a another monopoly just puts the City at RISK!

SCOTT BROTHERS TOWING,

SCOTT BROTHERS TOWING, ANCHOR TOWING, A1A TOWING, ALEX'S TOWING AND KEY WEST TOWING SUPPORTED THE CITY ON THE PREDATORY TOWING ISSUE..SUPPORT THESE COMPANIES, THEY ARE THE GOOD GUYS,,,THE COMMISSIONERS ARE BLINDED BY BULL SH*@T AND BUBBLE GUM THAT ARNOLD'S DISHES OUT....HOPEFULLY THE CITY WILL SEE THE LIGHT AND CUT IT OUT,,,,GOOD LUCK TOWERS,,,THE ARNOLD'S ARE SCAM ARTISTS

Alex from Alex's towing

It's quite simple, really. Become compliant and get on the city list.

What's is so difficult to understand?

Agree. Arnolds is the WORST. I suggest that the city simply

re-word the ordinance. And then we can ALL tell Arnold's where to go. They're a prime example of karma in action. Their evil deeds came home to roost and they will again.

I have towing insurance that

I have towing insurance that says it will pay for towing my car back to my crib. All I care about is getting my ride back home with the least amount of damage.
