A teenager from Big Pine Key died in a car accident just before 7 a.m. Sunday morning.

Emily Grace Bunch, a 10th grade honor student at Key West High School, was driving south on U.S. 1 and was at Mile Marker 77 in Islamorada when her 1997 Acura crossed into the northbound lane and then onto the shoulder, where the car's left side sideswiped the tree line and struck a tree.

Bunch, 17, was wearing a seatbelt, according to report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
