50 expected to apply for school job
Superintendent 1st of seven to submit application so far

The first Monroe County School District search for a hired superintendent so far has drawn seven candidates, including current superintendent Jesus Jara, who the governor appointed to the position eight months ago.

Aside from Jara, who was the first to apply in the opening week of the search on March 28, none of the applicants come from Florida.

Can I have bread with that sandwich?

Andy’s comment, “No one serious applies this early” is simply foolish. If I had already applied, and read this comment by a school board member, who by the way was one of five who would ultimately decide if I get the job or not, I would withdraw my name. Could you imagine working for someone like that? Does this man have a lick of sense? Are you really trying to get applicants? Andy is amazing what he says when thinking. Yes, when thinking. Hope Andy is not a graduate of Key West High School.

Here's the Reasoning...

You're in a job and you're qualified. Any job you apply to immediately triggers warnings with your current employer. Remember what's-his-name who Jara took over for? Didn't take the Citizen long to report he applied for another job elsewhere. After that, he was no longer credible. Now, it's not to say the first applicants won't be selected. They just happen to be the first to know about the opening AND applied immediately. Griffiths is still correct.

Andy of Mayberry

Andy is a fool and should be happy to know he finally has someone to run against him. Andy, your goose is cooked and it is time to leave us alone. Gone Fishing

The Good Candidates Haven't Applied Yet...

Griffiths is right about one thing, the good candidates will wait until the last minute. The district and state should do more to RECRUIT the right candidate to apply. Possibly, that person isn't even someone who has worked in education. Perhaps it's a business person who understands how to RUN a multimillion dollar business AND work with people.

What are the odds..........

that a local person is picked ?????????

No Way

No local is remotely qualified for the job!

Jara doesn't even qualify

Jara doesn't even qualify according to the posting. Run that idiot back to MIA.

Yep

He doesnt know his *ss from a hole in the ground. In other words he is clueless on how to run our school district and get us where we need to be, our kids where they need to be, he is dragging our district down the drain. smh
