20 YEARS AGO

A Monroe County grand jury report stated the county, School Board and city should sue the state over unfair school funding.

A public meeting was held at Old City Hall to discuss the relocation of the post office from Flagler Avenue to the Overseas Market shopping center.

A Realtor reported that a tenant moved out of a house and took everything, including the kitchen sink.

50 YEARS AGO

Munson Island (today Little Palm Island) was chosen as the site to film the movie "PT 109," the story of President Kennedy in World War II.

Sen. Hugh Scott of Pennsylvania was taking the two-week training course at the Navy's Fleet Sonar School. He was also a captain in the Naval Reserve.

Henry Lounders was elected president of the Student Council of Mary Immaculate High School.

100 YEARS AGO

A kingfish weighing 23 pounds jumped out of the water at the P&O dock, hit the building near the roof and fell down on the dock, where it was captured by Mr. Pinder.
