Board may boot search consultant
'We can take it from here,' Griffiths says of first hired schools superintendent selection

Less than a month after hiring a consultant to help navigate its first search for a hired schools superintendent, the Monroe County School Board will consider parting ways with the man who promised to deliver the perfect candidate and bill no more than $8,000 for his services.

School Board Vice Chairman Andy Griffiths on Monday placed on the April 24 meeting agenda the item...

This is what happens

when island fever runs rampant. Brains cease to function.

8 Grand to Consult on What?

The taxpayers are or were going to pay 8 grand for some "consultant" to read resumes? That sounds absurd and why the school system hired this guy is beyond me. The school board hires too many consultants and hangers on that in the end have no clue and are a waste of money.

Blanton Sounds OK to me

Was Blanton describing Jara and Burke when he said to be careful of Superintendants who job hop and become consultants? Seems this guy knows what to avoid.

Anyone

is smart enough to now that it is risky to hire job-hoppers. How ignorant.

Sound the whistle(blower)

Mr. Blanton, welcome to the world of the Monroe County School District. This is the type of treatment most employees experience. As a teacher, our contract is not adhered to. Custodians are thrown out on the street with the trash. Cafeteria workers and bus drivers are so afraid of layoffs they will not speak about the horrendous treatment they receive from their supervisors. The maintenance department does not even exist. These woes are all blamed on Randy Acevedo and his wife. Surely any educated person can see it is not. The board member who originally called you is directing this train wreck. Everyone knows you eliminated Jesus in Broward County and now Andy is afraid you will eliminate his puppet in the “circus of clowns”. Andy, if you had any respect for teachers and kids you would step back and see what a woman can do. Don’t you think 20+ years is enough? People should not serve on a school board for over 20+ years. Goodness, even the President of the USA can only serve two terms. As a matter of fact, you are quoted saying a woman should be on the board, and here’s your opportunity to step back and get her there. Or, do prefer a cat fight? Also, how about putting a single black female in low income housing or a single father living in the “pink apartments” on Stock Island on” YOUR” selection committee? Are you too afraid they won’t be able to go to the yacht club for after dinner drinks?

Nicely

stated.

Dang good post

We will still have to pay,

We will still have to pay, and the board will some how screw up the search

Step 2

The first step in the plan to hire a ringer was to load the search committee with cronies. Step two is to get rid of the pesky consultant who will vet the resumes and bring forward qualified candidates. It's no mystery where this train is headed. It runs on the same set of tracks everytime. Listen closely as the conductor shouts "All aboard! Next stop bubba town."
