Superintendent welcomes job review

At one of the five town hall meetings he hosted throughout the Florida Keys, Schools Superintendent Jesus Jara talked million-dollar budget cuts and listened to complaints from residents.

One question, though, had an unequivocal answer.

"How long are you going to be here?" a woman demanded of the superintendent of a school district that has changed lead...

OMG, Voters What Were You Thinking?

Who convinced the natives to give up their power of selecting a superintendent? You all kissed true accountability out the window. Now, even though you want to get rid of Jara, you're stuck with him because you're relying on 5 individuals to all think the same. It was much easier when you only had to get rid of one person to create change. Anyhow, the Governor took care of that for you a few times under unusual circumstances. You all may have over-reacted. Are Keys people really that dumb? You never give away you're voting rights. Never.

This could............

be good reading. I am waiting to see what happens next. Stay tuned!

References are your current or former employees

Therefore, since Jara works for the MCSD and the Scool Board is his "boss" and John Dick is the Chairman, it only makes sense that he would get a reference from the School Board. He has done a good job making tough decisions after taking over for Burke who just up and left. D you really think a NEW person is going to come here and STAY after they meet the bubbas? Jara knows the players and has worked through the bs that is Monroe County politics. I give him credit for sticking it out with a sense of humor. I woluld write him a reference!

You're two cents

That is exactly what they're worth on this topic. Jesus doesn't meet the BASIC qualifications the board set. Stay tuned as this will become very interesting with the tax payers loosing in the end. Also, Mr. Dick please removed your head from Jesus' butt.

Letter of recommendation

Only in Monroe County would you see a voting member of the selection committee writing a letter of recommendation for a candidate. Most people in the world would consider this unethical or corrupt but it is the status quo here. John Dick criticizes people for unethical behavior but in this case participates in it. If John were truly ethical, he would now recuse himself from the superintendent vote. As a matter of fact, if I were a candidate for this office I would feel the fix is in.

"Full disclosure, full transparency. It is what it is."

Yeah, right...then why did you order KWHS teachers to keep their mouths shut about the District and School Board?

Exactly. "Full Transparency"...when it's convenient.

Teachers are so afraid to speak up at School Board meetings, it's unfathomable. I hope we get a new Board, that encourages teacher input and values all opinions, whether they agree or not.

gag order?

Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, but Jesus? Sure, no problem.
