Democrat speaker series
Monroe County Democrats will begin a Candidate Speaker Series from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shanna Key Irish Pub & Grill, 1900 Flagler Ave.
Each meeting will showcase a different office and a Democratic candidate. The event will begin with a half-hour social. The first candidate to be featured will be Joyce Griffin, who is running for the Supervisor of Elections office. She's been with the office for 28 years and in her present role as assistant supervisor for 19 years.

MARATHON
Save-A-Turtle group meets
The Save-A-Turtle group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at The Turtle Hospital, Mile Marker 48.5.
Guest speaker will be research scientist Dani Morley of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Originally from Rhode Island, she moved to South Florida to attend graduate school, and afterward accepted a position with FWC in the Marathon field lab. Morley's been studying Florida Keys reef fish for the past three years.
She will discuss some of the projects FWC scientists are working on regarding the fish populations and behavior.
The board meeting is at 6:30 and the presentation will be at 7:30 p.m.
