Principal suspended for three days
But behavior did not meet legal definitions of harassment, hostile workplace

Superintendent Jesus Jara on Tuesday suspended Marathon Middle/High School Principal Hammond Gracy for three days without pay, but agreed with an administrative report that Gracy's workplace conduct did not rise to the legal definition of sexual harassment or creating a hostile work environment.

"However, we believe that he needs to address management decisions" in several a...

KWHS

Why hasn't anything been done to the students who ransacked KWHS? When this happened last year in Marathon, those students were not allowed to walk with their class. Doesn't seem fair.

I totally agree. Seems as if

I totally agree. Seems as if some favoritism is taking place. Just saying!

What I learned in school

A rhetorical question is a figure of speech in the form of a question that is asked in order to make a point and without the expectation of a reply

Please don't take Jesus, we have a Basilica

Can someone find out when they are landing and what airline? SPRINGFIELD - Three School Committee members plan to visit Key West, Fla., on June 8 to do a site visit in the school district of Jesus F. Jara, one of two finalists for the Springfield superintendent job. Jara is superintendent of the Monroe County Public Schools in Florida.. The administrative offices for the Monroe School District are in Key West. The other finalist is Springfield Deputy Superintendent Daniel J. Warwick. The School Committee members who will fly to Key West are Peter Murphy, Antonette Pepe and Norman Roldan.

Holy Whitewash, Batman

Since when are Theresa Axford and Michael Kinneer experts on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act? Since when does being married for 30 years mean that one is incapable of doing the things Hammond Gracy was charged with? This would be a joke except that it is so serious. What kind of message are we sending to the students, parents and community of Marathon. This is almost as bad as in 2009 when school board attorneys said the fact the Randy Acevedo punished anyone who criticized his wife did not make for a "hostile work environment." Look where that led the district. If you continually whitewash problems and look the other way, the problems do not go away, they fester. Marathon High School is in trouble and someone needs to deal with it. Get a new board, one that is not intimidated by the chief puppeteer and his minions.

Sounds twisted

This sounds like the Gracy character, has less character than he believes he has. Butchers FB activity and off school activities should have absolutely no baring on this and I find it distasteful he brought this to the table. It's blame the victim again...very wrong. As for the 30 year marriage, well, how long have Bill and Hillary been married? Didn't stop the Monika debacle, so again, no baring. Why would this married man be out on Duval street drinking to oblivian with a subordinate and her botfriend? Putting the peoples names into this paper who were questioned and answered the questions by Inquisition Mistress Axeford was a very bad thing to do Citizen! You have opened them up to ridicule and reprisals from superiors and collegues alike. THAT was highly irresponsible.

This is gonna get ugly

This guy's true colors shine through right there! ^^^

Hate to tell you

Hate to tell you batman, it is already very ugly.

Ok Robin

It's gonna get worse. Wait for it...

Interesting in that just a

Interesting in that just a few malcontents that wanted to run the school coerced others to bring forth year old statements. Watch the same ones start posting here as they do everytime with further slimey remarks. You lost, move on.

The only people who lost are

The only people who lost are the students who can continue to watch the moral and ethical decay of our schools. in today's paper, you will see that only 50 percent could even pass the math or reading tests! This is the real issue! This decade will go down in history as one of the biggest cons ever on the American People. While they are distracted by the sideshow of Fox News and Koch Brother propaganda and running around worrying about socialism, overpaid teachers, and "freedom", your kids are being raised as the most uneducated generation in history. Wave your "don't tread on me" flags and carry your guns to church, but save some money so you can supplement your stupid kids income as janitors and conch train drivers. How sad.

28 malcontents???? Yep, we lost.

I couldn't agree more... certainly a month long investigation that erupted during the busiest time of the year... what started as an investigation on ONE person yet led to 28 employees being interviewed... of a principal who was not rehired in his former district after 30 years... hmmm.... Yep, we lost. No problem that a female PROFESSIONAL was slobbered on and humiliated by her boss, and held the story of her experience for a year, (certainly not because she knew that he would be protected by the lawsuit-fearing-incompentent District staff) yet wagered it all; her reputation, her security, her well-being, her livelihood - just for kicks? YEP, WE LOST BIG TIME. The students, the staff, especially the 2012 graduates and the community, we lost. So, you are right, he gets away with vilifying his victim, destroying a school community just to use MHS as his stepping stone. Yep, he won, alright. So while you and he are toasting drinks at the Garden of Eden, have one on us. The losers.

Jara is done. Didnt he know

Jara is done. Didnt he know it was a set up to promote another Mcpherson.

Wow....

If Jara is happy with the performance of both these people, then reassign them to different places! But c'mon. A principal of a school should not be partying with his employees. If he ever did any type of military service, he'd understand what fraternization brings you. I don't know what kind of administrator he is but he sure made some poor leadership decisions and his testimony sure attacked an employee personally rather than professionally.

The most concerning thing in

The most concerning thing in this article is that this guy makes 105k salary plus benefits the rest of us can only dream about. Do you think they could find good people for 80k? No, let's fire some more teachers instead.

Gracy's Employment Is Why District Fails Students & Taxpayers...

Based on this article, Hammond Gracy is an embarrassing twisted joke. He does not belong around children. His unstable, awkward and immature behavior; reflects a mind set that is frequently triggered into acting in a radical and inappropriate manner. Why would any school district hire an individual of this caliber in the first place?? Unfortunately, many of these broken men, and some women, are rewarded with principalships; for they will never pose a threat to the district power structure. They are weak and compromised people who will be forever beholding for their high paying jobs. They will employ even weaker personalities to be in their classrooms. Gracy's comments about swinging a 'dead cat around' is a nasty comment that reflects his abusive nature. It clearly identifies his insensitivity. Knowing what the School District and Board does, they have an absolute responsibility to immediately terminate Hammond's employment. No sane district would touch this character with a ten foot pole. He has brought harm to those students, along with dividing his staff. His toxicity will continue to poison that school. The courage of those who stood up to this threatening menace is appreciated. Make no mistake, Gracy's abhorrent miss-conduct will cost the taxpayers millions. To continue to keep this man around children, teachers and parents is reprehensible. Those involved with the decision to keep this reckless and menacing, excuse of a man, in charge of the education of our children, have inflicted a deep wound that has injured many.
