HTA, CityView ducks free to roll and float

When Historic Tours of America's new amphibious touring vehicle rolls down Key West streets and splashes into local waters, the venture will be regulated under the company's current franchise agreement with the city.

And while a consultant's recent traffic study cautions that no new franchise vehicles should travel city streets unless significant infrastructure changes are m...

The emporor is getting a free wink n nod pass it seems? Where is the 'vetting' of an amphibious franchise before the PEOPLE of Key West at a PUBLIC FORUM which requires 2 readings of an amphibious franchise agreement before the city commission in PUBLIC view and with PUBLIC commentary and citizen input at the PUBLIC meeting. This is what needs be answered....not the pathetic 'move along you sheeple nothing to be seen here' additude as the 'status quo'. WAKE UP! demand a vetting of these huge 'hydra terras' that hta proposes to run.

The City could control this

The City could control this is they wanted to. Why allow these on the most crowded streets in The City. Pedestrians and bikes are all over Duval. This is an accident waiting to happen. Why doesnt Swift run these out of his New town depot. Keep them on our 4 lane roads and let them "splash down" from The Key Haven boat ramp. If HTA does not like this, maybe The City can take back the 400 block of Eaton where the whole curb is reserved "for employees of HTA", or better yet, take back Front Street and the pubic street in front of The Aquarium. Meanwhile, this article did not have one new piece of information. Where are the routes, where is the decision about the 60 passengers having loud noisemakers to use? Where is the information about the law suit against teh City of San Diego and how will Key West be protected? The reporting on this has been a huge let down.

Ducks in KW

The picture of the HTA Duck looks as if it is TWICE the size of a Conch Train. That is HUGE and not a very pretty duck.

Ducks in KW

btw its not a duck aka 'dukw' in military nomenclature....they are 'hydra terras' amphibians yes ducks no!

This is completely

Stupid. Really. San Diego - ok. Boston - ok. Old Key West in a fraction of a 2 mile by 4 mile coral rock surrounded by already crowded and noisy waters? - completely stupid. Insane. Moronic. May there be another Conch Republic Revolution .... If this island has any spirit left over. Sad.

Don't you love how HTA

Don't you love how HTA illegally bribed city officials to remove duck tours, so he can then steal the market. Didn't the initially find that it was unsuitable to our island?

DANGER

http://www.rbbi.com/folders/acc/arktour/arktour.htm http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/49983_duck10.shtml These things are not made for sight seeing, the redesigned hard tops are trapping people inside and taking them down. If you must work these things, make them redesign the tops to a safer style and require all to wear PFD while on board.

Where are they going to park it ?

Certainly not on a city street. Or on property visible from the street, so where it is now is illegal? Since violations are currently complaint driven , we should all call it in. Let Swift put it inside the train station, or will it not fit?

They have 2 ducks parked behind Advance Auto Parts

on Flagler next to the HTA's offices.

So Many Questions. So Few Answers.

How many duck vehicles/vessels will each company own and operate? How many will be on the streets and waters at any given time? Where are the pick up and drop off areas for each company? What route will each company use for its tours? Are the answers to these questions known by anyone at the city?
